Gemesis Diamonds
Diamonds of fancy colors are getting so popular these days. And so a lot of companies are looking for ways to culture such exquisite gems. Gemesis is one of those companies and their operation is focused on creating yellow and orange diamonds that are commonly used in breathtaking jewelry collections.
About Gemesis Diamonds
Carter Clark established Gemesis in 1996. Clark is a former Brigadier General of the U.S. Army. At first, he was awed by the idea of creating artificial diamonds for electronic and industrial applications. However, because the innate beauty of diamonds, Gemesis started to study the creation of diamonds of different hues for use in jewelry making instead of the initial plan.
Right now, Gemesis focuses their operation on the creation of colored gemstones, as they are more in demand than the colorless ones. The gems they create are sold in bulk and have yellow or orange hues. Fellow jewelers, retailers, and individuals who require customized jewelry are the usual buyers of their raw diamonds.
How Gemesis Creates their Diamonds
It is not easy to culture diamonds. In reality, a natural diamond takes a full millennium to form. However, a cultured diamond only takes a few days or even hours under highly controlled conditions. To grow diamonds, Gemesis uses a very small natural diamond commonly referred to as the seed. It will be placed in a special chamber and will be subjected to precise pressure and temperature conditions. Carbon will be sprayed onto the gem so that it would grow into several layers. The chamber will also be supplied with nitrogen, which is the element that gives the stones its yellow or orange hue. The process continues until the right size of the diamond is achieved. At that point, the newly grown stone will be removed from the chamber, ready for cutting and polishing for use in jewelry items. Gemesis diamonds are graded independently so that their quality is ensured.
About Artificial Diamonds
Gemesis doesn't deny the fact that their diamonds are artificial. This means that they are created under strict conditions and are not in anyway natural. But despite that fact, the diamonds they create are real diamonds. They are diamonds in composition, shape, form, texture, and quality. A lot of people confuse themselves with natural diamonds and cultured diamonds, with the former being regarded as fake gems. This is not true. Cultured diamonds are valid diamonds in everyway imaginable. It possesses the same optical, chemical, and physical properties that a natural diamond has. Artificial diamonds are not the same as imitation or synthetic diamonds, which are often made of cubic zirconia, crystal, or moissanite. These stones look a lot like diamonds but their chemical compositions are not the same. Therefore, they can't be referred to as diamonds at all.
Keep in mind that the only notable difference between cultured diamonds and natural diamonds is the condition as to where they form. Natural diamonds grow under the earth while cultured diamonds grow right inside the specialized chambers of diamond processing companies. Oftentimes, when you compare the two, the diamonds that grew from the chamber are a lot more beautiful than its natural counterpart. This is because there are absolutely no foreign elements inside the chamber, as compared to under the earth's surface.
