The Interview
A lot of grooms and diamond jewelry designers take into consideration the 4 C's of a diamond's quality. These are the cut, color, carat, and clarity. However, Kenneth David thinks that there's yet another C that requires the attention of diamond buyers – connection.
What is your personal concept of connection as the 5th C of diamonds?
Choosing the right engagement ring is a real challenge for men. Actually, when a man goes into a jewelry store looking for that perfect diamond for his fiancée, the 4 C's that were supposed to be clarity, carat, color, and cut become challenge, chaos, confusion, and cost. Now, I have developed yet another C to add into the equation – connection. Connection is the most essential, though often ignored attribute of a diamond. Connection is what links the couples to the engagement ring. It represents the emotional link that the diamond brings into the relationship.
How can a man create that connection prior to buying the engagement ring?
Before a man decides to get married, it is important that he knows his wife well. The same concept holds true when selecting an engagement ring for her. How will the design of the ring connect to your fiancée? Does she have an outgoing, bold spirit? If so, choose a big diamond design with lots of smaller gems around the central stone. If your bride is fairly demure and conservative, you might want to get a diamond solitaire ring on a bezel setting that sits close to her finger. Buying an engagement ring is like getting into a marriage. You have to check twice before you leap. Keep in mind that the engagement ring is the symbol of both your love forever.
Should men surprise their fiancées with wedding rings should the two of them shop together?
Despite the changes in today's world, women still think that surprising her with an engagement ring is the best way to propose a marriage. The engagement ring is the physical representation of the couple's commitment to each other. It is their connection. That is exactly how the ring should work between the couple. It should truly symbolize their bond to share forever. However, if the man is honestly isn't sure about which ring to get, it is best that the matter is discussed with his fiancée. Her inputs about the perfect ring should be very helpful.
