The most popular man made diamond simulant is the cubic zirconium which was first created in 1976. The cubic zirconium has made it possible for even the tightest budget to afford a beautiful diamond engagement ring.

Man made diamonds are created from diamond crystals, even in the case of simulants. Some of the most famous diamonds are man made such as the Apollo.
