I like the Cushion Cut Better

HugsDiamonds's picture

Aside from the fact that I prefer cushions over emeralds, I like the halo and its matching band.  Im assuming this ring would be spotted a mile away with all the sparkling support!!!

I absolutely adore the cushion cut, it's divine! I think halo settings are so classy and elegant and the diamond is an E color, which are pretty rare. The emerald one is beautiful as well but I like softer shapes in diamonds so cushion and round brilliant are my two favorites...Whoever gets that is one lucky chica!

cushion is better!

cmarie's picture

I also like the cushion because the halo looks more well-suited for it than the halo on the emerald. Plus I've always been a sucker for cushions. Thanks for having this contest!!

cushion is a beauty

suebrite's picture

OMG! The cushion is so beautiful. It is in the perfect setting and a ring I would pick if given the choice. Just breathtaking. You could probably see it from across the street. It also has a good balance of color and clarity. Great contest.

I have to disagree...

allykekel's picture

While the cushion is breathtaking, I'm partial to the emerald cut ring. I tend to lean toward the rectangular shaped stones, as my own ring is a rectangular radiant, and this one is no exception. Those emerald cut stones are crystal clear! I could look into them forever! And the two side stones are the perfect size, they don't overshadow the center stone, but they're also not so small that they look insignificant.
In short, this is a perfectly balanced peice that any woman would be all too lucky to wear!

cushion cut!

diana682's picture

i love the cushion cut one! the halo really looks great around a cushion.  i do love step cuts such as emeralds, but i dont think halos look good around them because its too much of a contrast in the way they shine/sparkle.  i think step cuts should be set in a very simple setting to show off their understated elegance. a halo closes it in too much.... cushions are complemented by a little more bling :).   however they are both gorgeous!!!

Emerald Cut

ashledif's picture

The emerald cut is gorgeous. It is so classy and it has a vintage look to the ring. And I love the small diamonds that wrap around the stones and the band. They are perfectly placed and are not over bearing like some rings are.

Emeralds all the way!

swffsflame's picture

Ok, first off..I do love both the rings they are breathtaking! I am seeming to like the emerald one better, I like the way the three stone is used with the halo effect around it..just wonderful...THEN you look at the gallery and the filigree..could take your breath away, I love that little touch that other people don't normaly see unless your wearing it or you point it out to them. Plus not to mention it seems that everyone is getting cushion cut these days! So, again I like the emerald more!

Cushion!

lovetherings's picture

I adore emerald cut diamonds, but I think the halo effect takes away from the beauty of the stones. For this reason, i think the halo works better on cushion cut diamond.  I also really like how the diamonds do not go all the way around on the band. This is more comfortable on the finger and the wearer doesnt risk damaging the diamonds on the bottom if they went all the way around.

cushion cut

The cushion cut diamond ring captivated me. It is very elegant and beautiful, the clarity and the color is a must....this ring is indeed rare and unique, not to mention a ring that is worth wearing for the rest of your life..

2.97ct Emerald Cut Diamond Ring

afont19's picture

I prefer the Emerald cut ring over the cushion cut. It just looks cleaner and more refined, not to mention the three stone setting is fabulous. The band is also a classier one than that of the other ring. Much more my style.

I prefer the emerald cut. I

I prefer the emerald cut. I think it looks more elegant and classic, not to mention unique! but both are beatiful.

Cushion Cut!

Lisaerin's picture

I love the cushion cut.  It is more sparkly and modern looking.  The emerald is more art deco, which is just a bit more "older" looking.

CUSHION ALL THE WAY!!

winkieli's picture

the cushion cut is soooo beautiful! the emerald cut is not bad, but it's so hard to find a perfect emerald cut (with the nature of their cut and all, you see flaws in even VVS1)....i've personally spotted flaws in a VVS2 emerald cut.

the cushion looks bigger than it is with the halo (=better value) and just screams class and elegance!

Cushion Cut

OMG I love the cushion cut I might have to get that exact ring for my finger, its stunning!!!!

Emerald Ring - No No

TrojanGirl's picture

Beside the fact that I love the way that cushion looks with the halo, I really do not like that emerald cut.  It looks like a college football ring to me.  Way, Way too much going on.  I think emerald cuts look good on their own, and this halo around it (times 3) just diverts from the beauty of the facets.  So I vot cushion all the way!

Although both rings are

diffraction's picture

Although both rings are absolutely gorgeous, my vote goes to the 2.84 Cushion Cut - it's a classic beauty! I love the daintiness of the ring and the detailing on the band and under the "basket" is beautiful!

I preferr the emerald cut.

pandaluck's picture

I preferr the emerald cut.  It looks so majestic!

I prefer the cushion cut

suzeeinskywdiamonds's picture

While both rings are beautiful, the one that I prefer is the cushion cut. The delicate look of the cushion cut with the halo makes it a more romantic ring. The emerald ring is striking and unique (art-deco inspired?) but the size of the side stones detracts from my enjoyment of this ring. It's less feminine and a little "too much." And I never thought I would say that about a diamond ring! If you made the side stones smaller (or none at all), I would probably prefer that ring. Generally, I think that cushion cut rings are too common, so I would like to see some new styles. Perhaps an Asscher cut with a halo would be a nice change -- or Asscher cut with smaller radiant cut side stones.

the engagement ring

uloveme88's picture

The engagment ring is just out right beautiful i love that ring and i am sure it would be even  more breath taking in person !!!! whoever receives this ring is one lucky girl !!!! good luck yall

Brings Tears to my Eyes - The Cush

tlsevcik's picture

The cush cut is so warm and soft - not the harsher look of the emerald cut.  It is has just the right amount of "sparkle" to give attention to its feminine look.  I would love - LOVE this as a replacement for my recently lost (by my two year old) ring.  I can dream!

Wow!

Vintage_Roses's picture

Although both of these rings are stunning, I love the cushion cut. For me, the softer shape is just more feminine, and I love the vintage-y feel. I completely agree with tlsevcik that this ring just seems warmer.

Good luck to everyone! : )

I would definitely chose the emerald

hawaiianstarlet's picture

In the broad aspect of engagement rings I am not a fan of the style of engagement rings with a large center stone surrounded by diamonds.  Please dont get me wrong I love diamonds, but I feel that this style is very popular today and in twenty years it will be very dated.  That being said I adore the emerald anniversary ring.  For the first part it is an anniversary ring and not an engagement ring which scores it points in the first place.  Secondly the craftsmanship of the basket and the placement of the accent diamonds on this ring makes it look more unique and stunning than the engagement ring with looks like it is trying to mimic the popular style of todays engagement rings.  Lastly the emerald ring, for some unexplainable reason, looks as though the style will stand the test of time and be appreciated for many years to come.

Both give me ring envy, but love the classy cushion

shontea's picture

I love emerald cut diamonds, in face they're my favorite cut.  And the emerald cut ring is gorgeous and stunning but sooo big.  It would overwhelm a hand like mine.  I have tiny, super skinny fingers and the ring seems like too much for me to pull off.  But the cushion cut has so much sparkle and the delicate diamonds around make for a such a classy look.  Some people say being classy means being understated but this ring is by no means an understatement but its also not too much.  All in all, the faceting is amazing and the ring is phenomenal, the cushion wins my heart.

The Emerald Cut...

Laxmi_Bunny's picture

...is like a clear night sky surrounded by stars. The cushion cut bristles with diamonds -- it looks like a meteor shower that could probably light up a room if it were illuminated correctly. They're both gorgeous rings, and had I the money, I would buy both for their distinct qualities. Having to choose one, though, I would choose the emerald cut. It's a lifelong favorite of mine since the emerald is my birthstone, and since I was a child, I felt that any stone cut in that way invites the gaze into its depths, which last forever. The emerald cut allows one to dream.

I also have to comment on the beauty of the topaz oval diamond ring, which is the ring that's being given to the winner. The stone is fabulous! Like a piece of sunshine, caught, faceted, and put into a ring of stars for the perfect lady to wear on her finger.  It's truly a treasure, just like all of Mark Broumand's jewels. If you haven't gone on his site yet, make sure you go. The rings are fabulous -- some very unique, like the round, brilliant cut engagement/anniversary ring (LOVE the color) at http://www.markbroumand.com/product/718ct-Round-Brilliant-Cut-Diamond-Engagement-Anniversary-Ring__1275-D7749521.aspx, while others will satisfy the traditionalist's heart, such as the yellow heart-shaped ring (the heart being one of the oldest symbols for love in Western culture), which you can find at http://www.markbroumand.com/product/574ct-Fancy-Yellow-Heart-Shape-Diamond-Engagement-Anniversary-Ring__1611-1D25301443.aspx .

While all the rings -- the featured cushion cut, emerald cut, and the oval cut -- are fantastic, I really think that the emerald cut is the most magical. I know that, were I able to afford something as beautiful as that one, I would certainly be transformed!

I actually prefer the Cushion Cut Diamond!

MQuinn66's picture

Personally, I prefered the look of the Cushion Cut Diamond over the Emerald Cut Diamond. I like the squared look of the Cushion cut and would personally perfer this diamond as my own engagement ring.  I think that the Emerald cut is very exquisite; however, not as practical!  As an elementary school teacher I know that I would not want to have an enormous diamond ring, in case it were damaged, lost, or stolen.

The Cushion Cut Diamond

raa5007's picture

I'm actually not too knowledgeable about diamonds, but personally prefer the cushion cut diamond. I like the clarity of the center diamond and the setting looks amazing. The diamonds around the center diamond and along the band really accent the center diamond and add to the sparkle of the ring.

I just visited Mark Broumand's website

I just visited Mark Broumand's website and I wanted to take part in the contest so I could land that prize.

I could view all those exquiste rings most of them in silver and wonder prestine diamonds but no where could I find a place to post comments. I love loose diamonds just lying scattered in the jewelry store and you cannot take ur eyes off it.

Emerald Cut!

I LOVE the emerald cut ring!

Our wedding is a modern mixed with art deco style and that ring really reflect a lot of what we are trying to create.

I'ts beautiful!

Gorgeous Ring designs by Mark Broumand!!!

Liz's picture

Mark Broumand has excellent designs and pricing! My fiance and I have gone through every single piece of jewelry on Mark Broumand's website!

It is difficult to pick one design out of the two.  However, as a personal choice, I would pick the cushion cut.

Reason why: As a daily wear ring, the cushion cut would seems more comfortable. Although smaller in carat size, the color of the cushion cut (E) is better than the emerald cut.  Sometimes, women concentrate on the carat, not realizing that the color is important for the diamond to have a beautiful shine! Also, when attaching a wedding band to the ring, the cushion cut will be easier to attach a band to as opposed to the emerald cut.

Thank you very much!

Incredible Emerald Cut Ring!

tia2905's picture

Let me first start by saying that both rings are absolutely gorgeous...as are all the rings on the website. I don't think any lady would decline either ring. That being said, the emerald cut ring is my favorite between the two. The stones are amazing and the design really allows the beauty of the stones to shine forth. Plus, I'm a huge Deco fan and the design of the ring echoes that time period.I have poured over every "antique/vintage"  jewelry website I have been able to find online searching for Deco engagement rings. Mark's emerald cut ring...though not antique, easily rivals the workmanship and intricacy of the antiques I have seen.  A very classy, elegant and beautiful design.

Thank you Ladies! Contests is Over!

The contest is over and the winner will be contacted by the end of this week to find out the details about how she/he will receive her/his ring!!!  Great Feedback!
