Ring Description

My ring has a princess cut center stone in a tension setting that leaves the diamond completely exposed on two sides, allowing tons of sparkle. The center stone is flanked by two channels on either side, one of graduating rounds, the other of graduating princess stones (24 diamonds in all, making the center stone the 25th). The overall look is much like a yin-yang focusing around a central diamond. The symmetry of this ring was so beautiful that I decided not to have a wedding band made to fit against it. I absolutely adore this ring - it feels like it was designed specifically for me =)

The proposal

My husband proposed to me on our one year anniversary during a hike in the Great Smoky Mountains. The year before, we had hiked in this same spot for our first date. During that date, Nick and I shared a very special first kiss on a bridge crossing a rushing stream. When we finally got to the bridge this year, he knelt down and pretended to tie his shoe. When I realized he was fidgeting in his pockets, I looked over to see him holding the ring so tightly in his fingers, trying not to drop it in the water below (his hands were shaking! so cute!). He said he knew from our very first date, during our kiss in this same spot, that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. We were married almost exactly a year later in Tennessee and still travel back to our bridge in the Smokys when we go hiking.
