I am looking into destination weddings in the Caribbean and just don’t have a clue where to start. A cruise trip there is a possibility. What are some recommended budget-friendly romantic places out in the Caribbean such as resorts/beaches for weddings and honeymooners…

    Any advice/recommendations appreciated!!

Check out online community boards for Destination Weddings. TheKnot.com has a great one that is very active and very helpful. I used it frequently to plan my Destination Wedding in Jamaica last year.

We chose to get married at Beaches Sandy Bay in Negril because the resort and location offered everything we needed. We had both children and a handful of elderly guests that needed a resort that is friendly to them, and it was affordable for my working-class family. So figure out who your guests will be and if they have any special needs that you would have to take into consideration when picking a resort or a cruise. That’ll help narrow it down.

I also used a travel agent who specialized in Destination Weddings and she was extremely helpful and made planning and picking a resort extremely easy! Her website has a photo tour of all the resorts she works with, too, which is fun to look at, even if you don’t use her as a travel agent her website it full of helpful information! http://www.myislandgetaways.com.

I would suggest you narrow it down to a few places where you would like to get married in the Caribbean. Look on the internet and search weddings in the Caribbean or on certain islands (for example a wedding on one of the islands in the Bahamas). When you find a location that you like you can get in contact with a wedding planner. They have some resorts that provide wedding planners for you that co ordinate a location for your ceremony and reception. They are the best people to help you because they live there and they know what the laws are, the regulations for getting married, where you can rent certain things ect. They can help you set everything up so when you get there things are organized and you wont be overwhelmed with not knowing where to get things, how to get things done and what to do. one of my friends got married in the Bahamas on the beach. She got in touch with a wedding planner there and the planner did everything down to the last detail. it was a small wedding the bridesmaids wore these cute tiffany blue dresses and then the wedding party went to a beautiful beach side restaurant. Everything from the flower in her hair, music to the centerpieces and food at the restaurant was organized by the planner. All she had to do was get there and enjoy her day.

I know a couple who got married in Jamaica at the Sandals Resort in Negril. I haven’t personally checked into it, but they said it was reasonably priced and they highly recommended it. I believe that they have different packages you can buy for your wedding and/or honeymoon.

St. Lucia would be an excellent destination for a wedding.

My brother got married at the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island in Nassau. Beeeautiful beach and the hotel itself is off the hook grand.

Aruba is popular for destination weddings. The great part is that they’re out of the hurricane belt so you don’t really need to worry about hurricanes (which is important if you plan on getting married in the summer).
