Difference between wedding ring and engagement ring?

So I am going to propose my my girlfriend of 9 years soon, but I don’t really know how. What is the difference between those two rings? Do I buy and engagement ring to propose with and then and wedding band? Not sure how all that works and what I should spend most on. Any help would be great!

The difference between a wedding ring and an engagement ring is a big one.
The engagement ring is the main ring, the expensive one, the one that is ‘hard’ to pick out. You present your girlfriend an engagement ring while you’re proposing to her.
The wedding ring is something you both wear once you’re officially married. They don’t cost much, and shouldn’t be too hard to pick out.
For both rings, I strongly urge you to look online. The reason? Because you can save up to 50% online on the exact same rings you would buy in-store.
Try http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/ or http://design.jared-diamonds.com/engagement-rings/?Nic=0.
I bought my now wife a James Allen engagement ring and we were both very happy with the purchase. Me because I got her a gorgeous ring for much less, and her… well, she just LOVES her ring. It came with free delivery and a full cash-back guarantee.
Seriously, before you buy, look online. You’ll thank me that you did.
Hope this helps. Good luck, Corey!

the wedding ring should be most expensive obviously. when your propose to her you use the engagement ring and then when you actually get married she buts on the wedding ring… so on her fingers when she is married she will have 2 rings on if she want to.. But most women only wear their wedding ring when their actually married..x
GOOD LUCK .X

Definitely the engagement ring costs more, and you get the engagement ring first. Typically, an engagement ring is a diamond solitaire, while a wedding band is a simple band of gold. Now, of course, there’s exceptions to these rules, but that’s the basics.
…and I wear my engagement ring with my wedding band everyday, and know a lot of women who do. It may be a regional thing, or depend on your line of work.

Example of a bridal set . . .

The larger, more expensive ring is given to bride when she becomes engaged. The wedding band is given to the bride during the wedding ceremony.
If you have doubts, you can always take your bride ring shopping. I suggest you get an idea of what she likes. After all, she is the one who will be wearing the rings . . . and hopefully, wearing them for a lifetime. So they should be rings that she likes.

you can buy them separate or together… its your choice. (mine wasn’t in a set, but my sister’s was). Propose with the engagement ring, save the wedding ring for the wedding day (normally the wedding ring is a simpler ring that matches the engagement ring)

you would spend more on the engagement ring. but, some rings come as "sets" meaning the engagement ring and wedding band to match the engagement ring are bought at the same time and it’s one price. in my case, my fiance got me my engagement ring without the set, so we then had to pick out the wedding band that would go best with my ring (which the wedding band was obviously cheaper than the ring with the center stone in it). You have many options and a jeweler should be able to help you. Find out from your gf if she wants a set or just the solitaire. if you have been together for 9 years, you should have some idea what she wants. If you just buy the engagement ring (the solitaire) then you can let her pick out the wedding band of her choice when the time comes. there are wedding bands that are plain, have small stones in them, they even have "embraceables" for solitaires, where the ring is centered between two bands that are attached with sidestones.

The Engagement Ring is when you are proposing. A Wedding ring is the ring you get on the day of your wedding. The ost nicest ring should be the engagment ring.
