I’m not sure where to go or how to insure my ring. Can someone help?

Typical Insurance Policies
Renter’s and home-owner’s insurance policies set limits for the loss of certain categories of personal property, including jewelry. Home-owner’s policies typically pay a maximum of $1,000 for jewelry theft. A renter’s insurance policy might have a lower limit for jewelry loss–$500 is common.
Does your insurance policy cover jewelry loss for reasons other than theft–such as for lost or damaged items? Read your policy carefully and ask your insurance agent to clarify the types of losses that are covered on your standard policy.
Additional Jewelry Insurance
You can usually purchase additional insurance for your fine jewelry, but be sure to ask your agent questions so that you have a good understanding of the coverage:
Is there a deductible? If so, how much is it and how does raising or lowering the deductible affect your policy costs?
Is an appraisal required prior to obtaining insurance? Are there only certain types of appraisers whose reports are accepted?
Are the items covered no matter where they take place? Would the policy cover you for a loss that occurs during domestic or international travel?
Are items covered for full replacement cost? Must you replace the item, or can you obtain a cash settlement?
Does the policy cover repairs to damaged jewelry?
Good Luck and Congratulations.

You add it to your renter’s insurance or homeowner’s policy. We rent & don’t have insurance so we’re going to get it & add the ring.

Insurance policies that cover your apartment (renters insurance) or your home (homeowners insurance) are able to add riders covering particular items of value. Bring the ring to a GIA certified appraiser (which can be found at most reputable jewelers). Once you have the ring appraised, contact the carrier of your apartment or homeowners insurance policy and let them know that you want to insure this ring along with the rest of the contents of your apt./house

Call your insurance agent (car, renters, etc). We use State Farm. They normally have a jeweler they work with to get appraisals on rings. All you’ll have to do, is go to the approved jeweler, show them the ring and they will tell you and your insurance company what it would cost to replace the ring. Now, keep in mind they are not going to give you the retail price on buying the ring. They are giving you what it would cost the insurance company to replace it should it be lost or stolen.

You’re home owners insurance should cover it, if you own a home. If not, any insurance agency who sells homeowners or renters insurance will usually let you open a seperate account just for specific jewelry items.

I work at an agency in Arlington TX. If clients dont have a rent or home policy to add the ring to we generally reccomend jewelers mutual.com. I hope this helps!!

You insure them with your home owner’s or renter’s insurance. If it’s really expensive, you may have to take out extra insurance.

look up chubb insurance online. They insure jewlery specifically and they will give you the replacement cost not the retail cost. They send you a check not to a place to go pick from.
