Hi Im looking at going on a cruise for my honeymoon in May, and was wondering if anyone has had experience, and could offer some advise of what cruise line to use. What we are looking for is nice, clean, not a lot of kids running around, at least room services and one restaurant open 24 hrs, and all inclusive. I would appreciate any advice! Thank You

The top honeymoon cruise destinations are Alaska, Caribbean, Greek Islands, Tahiti and Hawaii.

Picture yourself on the deck of an elegant ocean liner. It’s midnight and the stars are out. You can smell the salt air, feel the warm, gentle trade winds on your face. As you stroll hand-in-hand or dance to a lively calypso beat, you wonder, "Is there a more romantic spot on earth?"

Long considered the ultimate anniversary getaway, cruises are also very popular with honeymooners. But with so many sailings to choose from, it’s hard to decide which itinerary and ship you should choose for this very special occasion. To help you begin your search, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite honeymoon destinations. And if you’re interested in a little extra pampering, keep in mind that many cruise lines offer honeymoon and anniversary packages at an additional cost. First of all, you’re a bit behind the curve in booking a cruise. Experienced cruisers book a year or more in advance.

With the criteria you are looking for, you’re not going to find a cruise line that meets all your demands. In addition, there is only a couple of criuse lines that offer a true all-inclusive.

Unless you can afford an upper tier line like celebrity or holland America or Cunard, you’re not going to get away from having kids around. All the major lines, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Nowegian all will have lots of kids on board.

With such a short time to plan, you need to work with a trave agent that specializes in cruises.

There are a lot of variables to consider in making a selection of a cruise and most of the decisions will have to be based on your personal preferences. I have cruised on several cruise lines including, Norwegian, Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Holland America and there are some differences. My favorite cruise line is Royal Caribbean. But if I were selecting a cruise for my honeymoon I would select Celebrity or Princess because they are a cut above the other cruise lines in terms of the decor of the ships and the food and service on board.

Cruises are almost all inclusive. Regardless of which cruise line you select the things that are included are pretty much the same. The price of your cruise includes your cabin, all meals (including breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks and free room service), free admissions to all shows and entertainment, and free use of all facilities on ship like the pools, hots tubs, gym, disco, etc,., except spa services. The things that you will have to pay for are gratuities (tips) alcoholic drinks and soft drinks, photos that you want, any tours from the ship you want to take, spa services like massages, and internet service. Gratuities will be about $10 to @11.50 per day per person( depending upon the cruise line) and cover the cabin steward, waiter and assistant and the Matre’d. Other tips are added to drink orders at a rate of 15%. All have free 24 hour room service but Royal Caribbean charges a small gratuity of $3.95 for room service between Midnight and 5:00 AM.

All cruise lines will have a main dining room that is elegantly appointed, in many cases 2 or 3 levels, where you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. They all also have an informal buffet eating place that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; and another place somewhere on ship where you can go get food (if you don’t want room service) 24 hours a day.

But don’t worry about kids on board because all of the cruise lines have free programs for kids and professional staff people to keep them busy all day every day. They have special areas for the kids to hang out on ship too. The kids will NOT be a problem. I cruise 2 or 3 times a year and kids are never a problem.

Where to go?? That’s one of your biggest decisions. Everyone thinks Caribbean and Bahamas when they think cruise but the other options are Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico cruises, and the Mediterranean and Baltic cruises in Europe. The Alaska cruise season starts in mid May and is a great honeymoon cruise; I recommend Princess for an Alaska cruise (been there on Princess). Alaska would have fewer kids and is not a "party" cruise although you will have a good time and be able to use the pools and hot tubs on ship.

You should book soon if it is in may. Most cruise lines have children on board. But most of the time they are involved in the children’s activities and you really wont notice them. But if you are going in May some schools are still in session so there may be fewer kids. NCL, Carnival, Royal, all offer great cruises. It is rare that you will find "all inclusive" you pay for drinks. The food is included as well the entertainment, your room, etc. But you will have to pay for the casino, drinks etc. Really cruises are a great value for the money. Go to cruise.com they have a great selection of cruises at good rates.

http://www.vacationstogo.com and decide for yourself.Free sign up just give them any e-mail address and a password and you are sailing. They have the best availability and prices for all cruise lines. Most ships charge extra for drinks and gambling but you will NOT be hungry. Many ships also have at least one restaurant that you must pay extra for and am told it is worth it but we have not tried that yet.
