That’s odd.
It’s trying to access the start page and cannot find it.
I suspect that you could not connect to it with IE either.
That’s a system error and not particular to Firefox.
There’s no reason that you need to start with the start page however. It’s mainly an intro for new users and is set as the home page by default.
Go to the page that you use the most or arrange several tabs at once to set as your home page. I load 6 currently.
Select “Tools”, then “Options”, then “Main”.
Under startup, set it to show your home page.
As the homepage, choose use current tab(s).
Click OK to confirm.
From then on, Firefox will start with that page or pages (in tabs)
by default.
P.S. Re: other answer - it happens…
Have you tried the Google web accelerator?
Just a thought. I have not used it. Actually have DSL 7 miles from central office.

Ya these look like good ideas, firewalls, virus programs and such, and maybe a reinstall. BUT first, have you tried changing your home page and restarting firefox? We run Firefox and IE7 as well. love both. Only thing is, Firefox 2.0 Doesnt support the web accelerator our ISP has yet, as the older FF did. Too far out in the country for cable. Anywhos, try changing your homepage first then check your firewall, etc. EDIT— looks like somebody beat me to this while i was typing.

Don’t worry, whatever you do - DON’T reinstall the browser yet, try this out first.
Drag this link to the home icon in Firefox (it’s a shorter version of the normal Firefox start page)
when it says do you want this page to be yor new homepage, click “Yes” and then try re-opening firefox.
if that doesn’t work, then try re-installing firefox
