What kinda gold ring will not tarnish?

Bf and I started to look at engagement rings, but we’re a bit confused about it all, we saw gold plated, solid gold, filled.
We would like to get a nice ring that will last forever without turning green but we’re lost about the kind of ring that is available to us.
Thank you.
There’s also sterling silver rings. Will it tarnish?

10 carat will not tarnish and it costs less about a 1/4 less than 14 carat

Gold plated will turn green. Solid gold and white gold will not. As long as its at least 10k that is real gold (not plated) it will last and not tarnish. Sterling silver will tarnish, there is nothing you can do to stop it.

Get 18 kt gold.. no gold plate and no gold filled. Anything lower, (14 kt, 12 kt, for example) turns on me but 18 kt stays pretty and gold! Don’t get 24 kt because it’s too soft and will get dings.
Congratulations on the engagement!

All metals will tarnish to some extent. The air does it.
When you see a person with tarnished gold and their skin all black around it they have too much acid in their system. My ex MIL had to cut down on her orange juice consumption to stop this from happening.
Other things can cause this to happen such as other foods, medicines, your general personal body chemistry, etc., etc.
You do want to get a higher carat gold but the higher the gold content the softer the gold so you need to take the ring off when doing work. This is a good idea for all jewelry as you risk bending or breaking it and exposing it to sweat and chemicals.

Solid yellow gold and white gold will not tarnish.
Gold plated will tarnish over time and many times the plating will wear off and need to be re-dipped.
As for Sterling Silver if it has rhodium plating it will not tarnish and keep its sparkle. Rhodium plating at many stores increases the price of silver jewelry. If you get Sterling Silver that doesn’t have rhodium plating it will tarnish. However, if you clean it on a weekly bases you should be OK for a while
This website has great jewelry and information about gemstones and gold/silver http://www.youdeservegems.com/index.html Everything I have bought from them has not tarnish!!!
