Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We are just starting the process of planning the honeymoon. So far we’d really like to stay in the Caribbean, notably St. Lucia. Where are you planning to go, and do you have any recommendations of good places to stay in the Caribbean? We are looking for an all-inclusive resort within k for a week. Thanks!

I just finished planning my honeymoon & we were also looking at Caribbean for under 3k. St.Lucia was one of our top 5 and we were looking at the Windjammer. I would say don’t exclude non all-inclusives because if you really do research you can find good deals. We ended up deciding on Barbados. Got flights, hotel and daily breakfast at the Hilton for just under $1700 on cheapcaribbean.com.
Also I hear Punta Cana is great for a budget and has nice all-inclusives. That was another one of our top favorites.

I spent my honeymoon with my stupid in-laws. But for our 10th wedding anniversary, we’re waiting until our son is out of school, and we are going on a honeymoon WITHOUT any family. We’re going to spend our honeymoon in the mountains of Washington. I can’t wait.

We went to Maui, HI which is now my favorite place ever. I have not been to St. Lucia. I’ve been to Barbados, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Martinique, and Antigua. Out of all those Antigua was hands down my favorite. The locals were so friendly, the sand was truly white powder & the water was the most incredibly clear aqua blue. Our cab driver hung out with us on the beach all day LOL! It just had a very authentic & less touristy vibe than the other places. You should definitely consider it.

My wife and I were married last May and we visited Cancun, Mexico. Our trip was around $1,700 (not all inclusive at the time). I know for a fact you can find one for that price range. I loved it, they have parasailing, drinks, all kind of shopping, etc… I want to go back again.

I would recommend a Caribbean cruise. That way you get to sample a variety of islands during the day while enjoying ship board entertainment at night which includes comedians and broadway type shows. The whole trip should fit nicely within your budget.

We just booked our Hawaiian cruise yesterday! We’ll have 3 nights in Honolulu, and a 7 night cruise around 4 of the islands. I can’t wait!
Caribbean would have been our 2nd choice, but with the hurricane season, we weren’t sure we wanted to take our chances. Wherever you decide to go, just check the weather conditions at that time of year! St. Lucia was one our choices we looked into!! Wonderful choice, but Hawaii has always been our dream.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica is gorgeous, though I’m a bit biased since that’s where my family is from.
You can go climbing the humungous waterfalls, Duns River Falls, there are several quiet beaches to go snorkling and see tropical fish. Ocho Rios is mostly up in the mountains so you get gorgeous views of the islands, and it’s not quite as toursity up there which is nice just for privacy. You ‘ll have a lot of fun eatting local food, instead of the tourist stuff (all of it’s safe so no worries
). There is also a huge artisan market where you can watch as the artists carve canes and statues and paint them, or do bead work…but its also like your typical artisan market in the variety of things you can purchase there. and if you really want to get off the mountain, the island is so small that you can explore Montego Bay about an hour away which is where the tourist hot spots are with the discos and clubs and resorts (there are resorts in Ocho Rios too…but I personally think it’s better to go with locally owned bed and breakfasts, just because the money will actually go into the pockets of the locals instead of right back into the hands of an American or Brit or Canadian). Ugh…I wish I was there right now!

My fiance is really against going out of the country because he feels that he wants our money to help the economy of the United States before we help the economy of a 3rd world country (like most of the Carribean). We’ve booked a week on the island of Kauai, the garden isle of Hawaii. Although it does not include food and spending, we got round trip airfare from the east coast, rental car, and a week’s stay in an ocean view hotel room with balcony for about $3200. We were able to get this great deal on orbitz.com. I would suggest looking there to see what they offer!
