Where are you guys going on your honeymoons?

I’m looking for honeymoon ideas for my own honeymoon. Here’s your chance to brag a bit if you choose to. I’ve thought a bit about the whole Sandals/Couples type resorts, but am looking for some more ideas. I’m ready to book an all-inclusive resort in St. Thomas, USVI, but my future hubby isn’t too keen on flying (he’s NEVER had a good experience flying, and the last time we flew somewhere we ended up getting frustrated and renting a car and driving 12 hours from Richmond, VA to home in NW Ohio)
I’ve already checked out Caesar’s Pocono resorts….it’s an option, but not totally sure, because it seems like the type of place for an outdoorsy couple, which we aren’t…lol. Also, any links are appreciated. Thanks.
Cruising wouldn’t be a bad idea, other than the fact that we both get motionsickness. Sorry, should have mentioned that earlier…lol.
JustJane- You’re right, not what I was looking for, but I like it all the same…:)
Also, DisneyWorld is out. I’m not against Disney or anything (been there 4 times and would LOVE to go back), I just think Disney is too hectic/not relaxing enough for a honeymoon.
Flying isn’t COMPLETELY out. I’ve only had the one bad experience, so I’m very open to it….It’s my FH who’s against it, but I could probably talk him into it if needed.

Costa Rica!
It has everything Hawaii has (rain forests, island beaches, volcanoes, etc), but it is a heck of a lot cheaper!
AND the flight there isn’t nearly as long!
Win-win!

Stay away from Mexico. We were decided on Puerto Vallarta, but with all the drug violence, it’s not worth it. We are now going to Aruba and I couldn’t be happier with what I’ve found out about it.
If money isn’t a factor check out Fiji or New Zealand.

Why not go on a cruise visit a few ports
JustJane 9:02 pm on January 29, 2010 |
hehe.. I’m sure this is not the answer you are looking for, but I asked my fella (in a roundabout way) as to where he would like to go for a holiday? And he answered, "Somewhere where there is no postal service." Dude owns a business and stuff and gets pelted with mail every morning
Just thought I’d share it

I am planning on one of two options for my honeymoon.
1) Scotland/Ireland, because my FH is very proud of his heritage (Scottish) but has never been. I do not know as much about my Irish heritage and think that it would be a very exciting vacation to go on. His family has a castle somewhere in Scotland that I know he has been wanting forever to see, so I think this would be a very memorable holiday for us.
2) A Caribbean cruise. My family used to often treat me and my siblings to a yearly cruise, and to me it has become a very valued tradition. However, my family fell apart last year after our last cruise (which my FH joined us on) and the tradition will no longer be continued. I love the vacation of being on a cruise, it is so elegant and sophisticated in the dining halls, but fun on the pool deck. I love the idea of waking up in a different island everyday and having new experiences on different excursions. My FH had a fantastic time on our cruise last year and think we would greatly enjoy a more romantic one by ourselves without having to share a cabin with my siblings…Overall I think cruises have very romantic potential and appeal to them. Another reason I like this…is because in the early days of us dating I told my FH that one of my favourite experiences in life was at night on a cruise ship, when I saw another ship in the distance and it was all lit up…it was pitch black out and it looked like the lights were just floating in the air, and so one thing I like to do when I’m on cruises is stay up late and watch for other ships in the water. After I told him this, he came and picked me up late at night, and took me to a local park on the river, and we sat and watched the ocean tankers lights flow by in the night time.
Many people fear getting motion sickness on cruiseships, and I should tell you that I am very prone to it as well. However, the cruise ships are so massive that you are pretty much on a city at sea. There are malls and bars and restaurants and movie theatres, several pools and hot tubs and dining halls….The ships are so large and you are so busy, that you do not notice that you are on the water or that you are moving at all. The only time you will notice is, after a week on board and you’ve become adjusted to walking on the ship, when you get off your legs feel wobbly on steady ground. They are called sea-legs and actually a little bit of a trip, lol.

♥ You could check out Niagra Falls. It’s beautiful & they have hotels where you can look out the window and see the falls. I’ve never been at night but heard they are beautiful!
♥ Aruba perhaps? I know you mentioned no flying, but its a beautiful place for a honeymoon.
♥ You mentioned you checked out the Pocono’s resorts… Cove Haven is where my friend & her fiance are going for their honeymoon. I’ve been helping plan their wedding and really its not as outdoorsy as you’d think. They are staying in the room with the 7ft tall champagne bath and a heart shaped pool. They’ll probably never leave the room! Lolz… But you do get a 1 hr resort activity (they chose horseback riding)… which would be nice to get out for that hour or so. And its a good price! I’d check it out again. Use Denise as your reservation specialist if you do decide to book there.
Congratulations & Good Luck!

my husband and I went to North Carolina for our honeymoon. It was really fun and relaxing. It was in October, so tourist season was over but it was still warm enough to hang out at the beach. We also went jet skiing, toured a light house and tried out a few great restaurants. It was a lot of fun.

We went to Montego Bay Jamaica. I loved it, we stayed at Rose Hall. We also went one our first cruise in December and it was kinda boring. We though about Disney but my husband was not keen on the idea. We live Cincinnati, and flew to Miami then to montego bay. The flight would not have been so bad but American airlines suck.
Here is their website

They also upgraded our room since we were honeymooners!
The flight was not too long I think around a little over 2 hours to FL and a little over 2 from FL to Jamaica.

We’re going to California. However, we are very outdoorsy, active people (we’re both competitive athletes!) so we’re spending tons of time outside kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, surfing, swimming, etc. as well as sightseeing. We fly into San Diego and are driving a rented convertible to San Francisco over the course of 9 days.
For a more relaxed honeymoon, I’d suggest an all-inclusive resort.
Good luck!

Skiing in Colorado.
We live in Florida so we get tropical weather every day! I want to see some snow!
